The Film and Photography Club of the Department of English, the University of Asia Pacific successfully organized an online exhibition plus workshop titled “Shots Soiree” – Spring 2020” on September 22, 2020 (Tuesday). The event was held on the video platform of Zoom. The exhibition started at 7.30 p.m. 68 photographs were submitted to the online event among which 41 photographs were selected to be shown during the program. Five photos were awarded as best photographs.

The program was inaugurated by Ms. Arjumand Ara, Head of the Department of English, UAP. She, in her inaugural speech, appreciated the initiative wholeheartedly. The honorable Treasurer and Registrar-in-charge, UAP, Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury also thanked the event organizers for such a wonderful stratagy to stay connected on-line during this pandemic. The judge of the programme was Sovon Karmaker, a self-taught photographer who won several awards in different categories of numerous contests. Mr. Karmaker went through all photos and gave his precious comments on each picture. The exhibition was divided into two parts. After the exhibition of all selected pictures in the first segment, the honourable judge talked about the colour theory and how light as well as shadow work together to make a photograph visually stunning and meaningful. The segment was followed by a question-answer session.

The event was convened by Ms. Sadia Afrin Shorna, Assistant Professor, Arpita Haque, Lecturer, and Iffat Jahan Suchona, Lecturer at the Department of English, UAP.  The session was wrapped up with a vote of thanks from Ms. Sadia Afrin Shorna on behalf of the conveners.
